The famine has ravaged East Africa, putting nearly 13 million people in Somalia, Kenya, South Sudan and Ethiopia at risk of starvation with an approximate 600,000 children under five who will soon suffer from extreme malnutrition.

In response, IDRF is doing its part to help ensure that these vulnerable people are given the urgent aid they need to survive through these dire circumstances.

Join us for the “Bringing Hope to East Africa” fundraising dinner on April 9th at 5 pm at Woodbine Banquet Hall to help us raise funds to support those affected by the East African Famine.

Tickets are available for purchase online for $50.00 per person, $500 for a table of 10 and $25.00 for children under 12.

With your support, we can make a difference in the lives of some of the world’s most at risk people.

A lesser known crisis that has raged for the last three years has nearly reached its boiling point: The East African Famine.

Three years of drought conditions have devastated crops and livestock in the East African region, resulting in rising food prices and families without the ability to feed themselves. As a result, nearly 13 million people in Somalia, Kenya, South Sudan and Ethiopia are at risk of starvation with an approximate 600,000 children under five who will soon suffer from extreme malnutrition.

This crisis calls for immediate action: Join us as we raise funds to provide water and emergency relief to those in need.

IDRF’S PARTNERSHIP WITH THE EDHI FOUNDATION- DRIVING PEOPLE TO BETTER HEALTH OUTCOMES

Pakistan suffers from high casualty rates from both natural and human-made disasters due to insufficient health infrastructure, which exacerbates the immense challenges that poor people face when responding to emergencies.

To help mitigate this intense crisis in 2015, IDRF partnered with Edhi Foundation, the largest private owner of ambulances in Pakistan, to implement a 24 hour emergency ambulance service that operates in rural and urban areas across the country.

Edhi is a trusted partner of numerous government agencies and private organizations that permit its ambulances to pick up the sick and injured in the wake of emergencies.

Your aid has helped IDRF mitigate this issue by partnering with the highly reputable EDHI Foundation to purchase 165 ambulances that provide services in remote areas to over 20,000 vulnerable people.

Fast facts:

  • The EDHI Foundation operates 1,800 ambulances stationed throughout Pakistan
  • IDRF, through the EDHI Foundation, is working in nine cities in Pakistan
  • The average cost of an ambulance is $9,000-$10,000
  • Each ambulance is outfitted with tracking devices to enable the driver to receive real time data for more efficient routes
  • IDRF has worked with the EDHI foundation since 2015 in the wake of several devastating earthquakes
