IDRF’S IMPACT IN PAKISTAN
Since 1994, IDRF has had an active presence in Pakistan, which was bolstered in 2010 in the wake of devastating floods. IDRF staff have operated in cities such as Islamabad, Dadu and Karachi, providing support in the form of home construction, medical care, emergency relief and development assistance to hundreds of thousands of Pakistanis.
As of February 2017, IDRF currently works with eight outstanding local Pakistani organizations, such as the Sukkar Foundation, Family Education Services Foundation (Deaf Reach), Zindagi Trust and The Pakistan National Forum on Women’s Health.
IN THE NEXT COMING MONTHS, IDRF WILL FOCUS ON 3 PRIORITIES IN PAKISTAN
- Expanding our humanitarian response: IDRF plans to expand its humanitarian response activities, focusing on access to clean water, sanitation and hygiene, food security and nutrition, and disaster risk management.
- Supporting the rights of women and girls: IDRF will work towards accomplishing this goal by focusing on community leadership development, inclusion advocacy, maternal and child health, and addressing gender-based violence and discrimination.
- Providing economic development assistance: IDRF will help enable vulnerable people to become more self-sufficient by helping to provide in-demand skills training and entrepreneurship support for women and youth.
