PAST PROJECT
The project aimed to empower vulnerable individuals through various income-generation projects, and to provide long-term, sustainable rehabilitation assistance in the aftermath of the flood disaster.

 


PROJECT DESCRIPTION

This project aimed to promote empowerment among the affected communities, through rehabilitative work based on the following objectives:

  • Provided long term, holistic and sustaining rehabilitation assistance in the aftermath of flood disaster.
  • Supported income generation activities through formation of Self Help Groups and introduction of Revolving Loan Fund/Micro-Finance and reduce the vulnerability of communities to future disasters.
  • Provided shelter designed to meet socio-economic status and life styles without any detrimental impacts on people.
  • Organized disaster preparedness and management training for NGOs.

Approximately 60 NGOs were trained in disaster management, and 137 shelters for 685 persons were provided and 500 families benefited directly and indirectly from the formation of Self-Help-Groups assisted with micro-financing/Revolving Loan Fund.
