PAST PROJECT
This project provided primary quality education and welfare to orphans living at the Zakat Foundation, in hopes of eradicating illiteracy.
For this project, IDRF acknowledges the financial support of Children of Hope (COH).
PROJECT DESCRIPTION & BACKGROUND During the last six decades there has been a tremendous increase in the number of poor orphans, widows, patients, disabled individuals in India. According to the 2001 Census, these individuals make up 13.4 percent of the country's population.
IDRF partnered with the Zakat Foundation of India (ZFI) to support the education and welfare costs of 70 orphans (35 girls and 35 boys). Orphans were supported through the provision of educational materials and supplies, clothing, food and healthcare.
