This project aims to eradicate illiteracy by providing primary quality education and welfare to orphans living at the Zakat Foundation

 

PROJECT DESCRIPTION & BACKGROUND

During the last six decades there has been a tremendous increase in the number of poor orphans, widows, patients, disabled individuals in India. According to the 2001 Census, these individuals make up 13.4 percent of the country’s population.

IDRF has partnered with the Zakat Foundation of India (ZFI) to support the education and welfare costs of 70 orphans (35 girls and 35 boys). Orphans will be supported through the provision of educational materials and supplies, clothing, food and healthcare.

 

PROJECT OBJECTIVES

  • To promote the rights of children and support their general welfare.
  • To help the poor and underprivileged class of the society.
  • To plan and implement joint social programs for the purpose of assistance and development of the needy.
  • To help the poor persons stand on their feet and become financially independent.
  • The scheme is targeted to the rural population uncovered by Government schemes and marginalized strata in urban and its peripheries.
