IDRF hosted a special information session about Top CRA Compliance Issues for Charities on July 27th, 2010, at the Ontario Science Centre. The session was well attended by many of IDRF's partners and friends.

The facilitator, charity lawyer Mark Blumberg editor of CanadianCharityLaw.ca, covered top compliance issues, including:

  • Fundraising concerns
  • Proper receipting and avoiding inappropriate receipting
  • Foreign activities and Gifts to non-qualified donees
  • Allowable political activities of Canadian charities
  • How to handle a CRA audit
In addition to gaining a clear understanding of CRA regulations, attendees enjoyed dinner and networking with colleagues. Feedback from the participants was very positive, with many stating that the session was very interesting and informative.
