| Renal Centre in Guyana |

Guyana is one of the most underdeveloped countries in the Western hemisphere and it is estimated that approximately 1000 people in Guyana experience kidney failure and require dialysis. Patients on dialysis require at least 2 visits per week while they await transplant, ideally, more. A select few private facilities provide hemodialysis services in the country but at $200 per session where the average annual income is $3,200, the treatments are prohibitively expensive. IDRF is supporting the Doobay Renal Centre, which assists in providing subsidized hemodialysis services at $75 a session, as well as on pro-bono dialysis services to those who cannot afford it. Help IDRF shine a spotlight on this often neglected complication and reinforce the hard work done by so many Canadians to make the centre possible. Tax-deductible receipts will be issued to anyone donating $10 or more. |
