PAST PROJECT

IDRF provided emergency aid for victims of the December 2003 earthquake which hit the city of Bam, located in South Western Iran. Another project in Iran after the Earthquake involved the reconstruction of of a primary school in Bam. 

 


PROJECT DESCRIPTION

In December 2003, a devastating earthquake hit the city of Bam, located in South Western Iran. Within seconds, this historic city was reduced to rubble. Thousands of people lost families, and the number of those injured or left homeless was in the hundreds of thousands.

IDRF immediately sent $50,000 to Iranian Red Crescent toward emergency relief efforts. IDRF assisted survivors as they grappled with the formidable challenges caused of rebuilding and reconstruction. The Ferdosi Primary school in Rostamabad of Narmashir in Bam was one of the reconstructed buildings.
