RELIGIOUS

GIVING

IDRF continues to launch special campaigns each year to facilitate our supporters’ charitable intentions. Our Ramadan, Zakat, Sadaqah, Fitrah, and Qurbani/Udhiya services specially assist donors who desire to give from their wealth to others with no means, while fulfilling their religious requirements.

How do we do it?

Zakat

Throughout the year and most particularly during the month of Ramadan, IDRF receives generous donations designated as Zakat. Zakat principally serves as the welfare contribution to poor and deprived people in need. It is obligatory upon the Muslim community not just to collect Zakat but distribute it according to the commandments of the Holy Qur’an.

How do we use Zakat donations?

IDRF is committed to utilizing Zakat donations with efficiency, transparency, and accountability, while ensuring compliance with commandments. Funds are used throughout the year on projects which serve families in particularly urgent need.

Where we work

IDRF’s Zakat projects are numerous, and include work in water provision, food security, income generation, and emergency response around the world. You can read more about our extensive programming in these areas under What We Do.

Sadaqah

Your generosity and your Sadaqah contributions enable IDRF to come to the aid of survivors of conflicts or natural disasters by providing life-saving necessities to those who are wounded, widowed, or orphaned, as well as those suffering from extreme poverty.

Beyond providing basic essentials, IDRF strives to improve the quality of life for our project participants, enabling them to celebrate important religious and cultural events with dignity while also supporting the most vulnerable families in meeting nutritional needs. Make your Sadaqah Contribution below:

Fitrah

Each year, IDRF ensures that vulnerable and needy family families receive food in time for Eid-ul Fitr. IDRF and our partners are diligent in ensuring that distributions are compliant with Zakat-al-Fitr requirements.

How do we use Zakat-al-Fitr donations?

IDRF typically receives Zakat-al-Fitr funds throughout the month of Ramadan. While the obligation is to provide families with one meal, IDRF uses this time to provide families with sufficient food aid parcels to last them over a month or more, in addition to a special celebration of Eid-ul-Fitr. This maximizes resources and provides significant health benefits to families.

Where we work

Since 2010, IDRF has successfully delivered food aid to the most vulnerable families in Gaza during Eid al-Fitr, ensuring that all families are able to feed their children during this important time. In 2016, some of the poorest families in Gaza will receive weekly fresh food parcels for five weeks during the Holy Month of Ramadan to enable them to meet their minimum food requirements. Fresh food will be purchased from small impoverished farmers and distributed to families in need. During Eid, children will also receive a gift of special chocolates to celebrate. This innovative approach will bring a double benefit during Ramadan: helping families to feed their children, and helping over 100 small scale local farmers by supporting their business.

Qurbani/Udhiyah

During this time of Qurbani/Udhiyah, Muslims ensure that vulnerable families have access to meat, and reflect on the importance of sacrifice for others during the time of Eid-ul-Adha.

How do we use Qurbani/Udhiyah donations?

Working with experienced local partners and experts, IDRF ensures that recipient families receive high quality meat, in a manner consistent with religious requirements.

Where we work

Each year, IDRF selects countries and partners with high levels of need, who will not otherwise receive support during this time. With your support, in 2015, IDRF was able to reach over 30,000 people across 3 different country sites (Pakistan, India, and Lebanon). Please contact our office to inquire about this year’s countries of offering.
