Skate4Syrians 2017

THE STORY:

Who we are

We represent YPC (Young Professionals Council), a committee of IDRF (International Development and Relief Foundation). As volunteers, we are committed to giving our time outside of our personal and professional lives towards a shared vision, that together we can make a difference!

What we are supporting…

For 2017 one of our initiatives will be to provide mental health screening and support for 700 refugee children with disabilities and their families in the north of Lebanon (near the Syrian border) as well as in the far south.

How we will do this…

We will be holding our 2nd annual event:  “Skate4Syrians” on Saturday, February 11th at 630 pm. This is a family friendly skating event at Evergreen Brick Works in Toronto.

We are looking for your support in helping raise funds for this program. Here are a few ways you can contribute and help make a difference!

The impact…

This multi-year initiative will provide mental health screening and support for 700 children with disabilities and their families (100 of these children will be under the age of 5). The program will assist refugees in the north of Lebanon (near the Syrian border) as well as in the far south. Support will also include home-based care support and access to physical rehabilitative programs for children. This project with also involve local schools to improve infrastructure and support educators who work with disabled children to support their mental health needs and diagnosis. Referred children will receive at least 3 sessions monthly for one year. At these schools, general mental wellness programs, including music and drama therapy will also be provided.

Please donate today, and also plan to join us at “Skate4Syrians”, a special fundraising event for supporters of all ages!
