IDRF thanks the Montreal Muslim and Interfaith communities and SKF ( Syrian Kids Foundation) for their wonderfully generous support during a Gala and Fundraising Dinner in Montreal on May 1st . The aim of the event was to bring awareness to the plight of Syrian refugee children’s lack of access to education and to help raise funds for the As Salaam School in Turkey.
We were honored by the attendance of Quebec’s Immigration Minister Mrs. Kathleen Weil, Members of Parliament Mr. Marc Miller, Mr. Frank Baylis, Mr. Angelo G. Iacono and Mr. Francis Scarpaleggia, and Honorary Turkish Consul Mr. Amin Battika. Our hard working Representative Faisal Alazem and his wonderful team of volunteers went all out to make the event an enjoyable and successful one. Shaikh Imran Ally of Toronto’s Taric Masjid did an amazing job in stirring the audience with his speech; while Dylan Connor, well known musician and humanitarian activist, thrilled the audience with his special music. Of course, all were moved by the two students who skyped from the Al Salam School in Reyhanli, Turkey.
We are delighted to announce that the event raised $40,000 for the education of Syrian children.
Thank you again to all who attended and supported our Montreal Gala!
