Support for Rohingya

06 September, 2017 Emergency Response
More than 700,000 Rohingya Muslims have fled to Bangladesh since August 25th, amidst reports of mass killings and the systematic burning of Rohingya villages by Myanmar security forces. These Rohingyas are forced to live in schools and community centres, and refugee camps in Bangladesh. The stories that our staff were told by many of the refugees were truly grim; the Rohingyas had walked or travelled by sea for days to reach Cox Bazar, and their accounts of the horrors and abuses that they had faced were such that most Canadians could never imagine.

In Bangladesh, we were able to provide Food Aid through our distributions to 53,000 Rohingya Refugees in Cox’s Bazar.

In Myanmar, to date, we have provided Emergency Food parcels across 17 villages in Northern Rakhine to 7,000 individuals.

A donation of $60 provides 1 family with food for a full month in both Bangladesh and Myanmar. Your support will continue to ensure that vulnerable Rohingya can survive during one of the most precarious circumstances imaginable.

Note: At IDRF we are committed to managing your funds and being accountable to you as our donors with full transparency. To do this, we are committed to ensuring that the funds you have selected are designated to the appropriate country. In the event IDRF receives funds that cannot be designated to the country selected, then please know that the funds will be redirected to support other vulnerable communities that are in urgent need.
