Ensuring Safe Drinking Water in Schools

11 August, 2015 Palestine, Water, Sanitation & Hygiene
Reliable access to drinking water has made a world of difference to the children in Gaza. Currently, available water in Gaza is unreliable and not fit for consumption and consistent access to clean water is expensive and challenging. Working with an established partner in the region, this year, IDRF will provide youth from 20 schools in the Gaza strip with dependable access to clean, potable water.

  • Water will be distributed directly to schools throughout the school term. As well, water will be distributed through the summer months when these schools house summer camps for children to ensure year-round access.
  • Water will be secured reliably from our partner’s own desalination plant to encourage consistency.

Last year, 19,689 students from 14 schools in Gaza received water, thanks to your generous support. We are delighted to be able to serve thousands more this year, as we expand to 6 additional schools in the area. As part of IDRF’s Water Campaign, this project is scalable pending additional funds to support new schools in the region.

Note: At IDRF we are committed to managing your funds and being accountable to you as our donors with full transparency. To do this, we are committed to ensuring that the funds you have selected are designated to the appropriate country. In the event IDRF receives funds that cannot be designated to the country selected, then please know that the funds will be redirected to support other vulnerable communities that are in urgent need.
