03 May, 2016 Religious Giving

Throughout the year and most particularly during the month of Ramadan, IDRF receives generous contributions designated as Zakat. Zakat principally serves as the welfare contribution to poor and deprived people in need. It is obligatory upon the Muslim community not just to collect Zakat but distribute it according to the commandments of the Holy Qur’an.

How do we use Zakat contributions?
IDRF is committed to utilizing Zakat contributions with efficiency, transparency, and accountability, while ensuring compliance with commandments. Funds are used throughout the year on projects which serve families in particularly urgent need.

Where we work
IDRF’s Zakat projects are numerous, and include work in water provision, food security, income generation, and emergency response around the world. You can read more about our extensive programming in these areas under What We Do.

At IDRF we believe that Zakat is a vehicle to helping us save lives and rebuild communities. Some of the world’s most vulnerable people are in need of basic supports, so that they can live with dignity.

We have a 100% Zakat policy where all Zakat donations are exempt from IDRF administrative fees.

Note: At IDRF we are committed to managing your funds and being accountable to you as our donors with full transparency. To do this, we are committed to ensuring that the funds you have selected are designated to the appropriate country. In the event IDRF receives funds that cannot be designated to the country selected, then please know that the funds will be redirected to support other vulnerable communities that are in urgent need.
