“And upon those who are able (to fast, but with hardship) – a ransom (as substitute) of feeding a poor person (each day). And whoever volunteers excess – it is better for him. But to fast is best for you, if you only knew.” (Q2:184)

Fitrah or Zakat Al Fitr is a charitable act that is to be distributed before the end of Ramadan. What you donate to Fitrah should be enough to cover 1 meal for 1 individual and must be given for each member of your family.

The cost of Fitrah is $10 per person and can be donated to IDRF as part of your religious giving obligations.

IDRF has been providing Fitrah in Gaza for a number of years and is committed to ensuring that not only do individuals in need, including orphans, widows and vulnerable people, receive 1 meal, but that they receive enough food for the entire month of Ramadan.

To do this, we provide 5 weeks of food and an Eid gift to over thousands of people each year. Around 69% of our beneficiaries will be children, a quarter of these under 5 years old.

Note: At IDRF we are committed to managing your funds and being accountable to you as our donors with full transparency. To do this, we are committed to ensuring that the funds you have selected are designated to the appropriate country. In the event IDRF receives funds that cannot be designated to the country selected, then please know that the funds will be redirected to support other vulnerable communities that are in urgent need.
